ACLU to Flint cops: Butt out
The people of Flint who wear their pants in the hip-hop sagging fashion should not have to pull up their shorts or pants to stay out of jail, avoid being ticketed or searched, according to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Michigan. The ACLU has recently chastised Interim Police Chief David Dicks on his sagging pants law raising Constitutional violation issues, and promising to back up legally anyone who is ticketed, arrested or unlawfully searched due to this law.The crime is considered disorderly conduct or indecent exposure, both misdemeanors punishable by 93 days to a year in jail and/or fines up to $500.Check out the rest of themichigantimes.com column, click HERE!
PAMPLICO — Pamplico Town Council has taken its attorney’s advice and voted unanimously to drop an ordinance that would forbid residents from wearing sagging pants.Mayor Gene Gainey said Monday that town attorney Jimmy Epps has concerns about the constitutionality and possible legal challenges that could result from such an ordinance.Gainey said the town will observe how successful a sagging-pants ban would be if passed in some of the state’s larger cities.Council voted last month to table the ordinance so that Epps and council members would have more time to consider the measure, which passed first reading July 21.To check out the rest of the scnow.com article click HERE!

He was among many readers who didn’t share my concern about new or proposed ordinances that ban youngsters from “sagging” in Pine Lawn and other mostly black-populated municipalities. Kids who wear their pants around their legs instead of around their waist, they said, should be legally corralled. “Unfortunately, our black communities’ politically correct crusaders (such as yourself) aren’t helping to reverse this cycle of failure,” Rich continued. To keep reading this stltoday.com column click HERE!
